New Clinical Study Validates Quantitative Forefoot PVR with AngE™ in Diabetic Foot

July 24, 2025

Maria Rain, July 2025 – A recently published study in Biomedicines confirms that quantitative pulse volume recordings (PVR) using the AngE™ system from SOT Medical Systems are highly effective in diagnosing peripheral artery disease (PAD) in patients with diabetic foot syndrome and medial arterial calcification.

“All PVRs were performed using the AngETM system (SOT Medical Systems, Maria Rain, Austria), which enables quantitative evaluation of pulse volume signals,” the authors report (Biomedicines, 2025, 13(6), 1281).

Key findings:

  • Maximum Systolic Amplitude (MSA) achieved AUC values up to 0.90, outperforming conventional indices like UST and USR.
  • Even in patients with falsely elevated ABI values (≥ 1.3), MSA showed 96.8% sensitivity and 87.5% specificity.
  • Post-revascularization, MSA values significantly improved – demonstrating clinical value in both diagnosis and treatment monitoring.

“This study highlights that AngE™ goes beyond screening – it delivers meaningful, quantifiable insights to support clinical decisions,” emphasizes Miguel Marhl, COO of SOT Medical Systems.
